The World Reimagined is a ground-breaking, national art education project to transform how we understand the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its impact on all of us.

The World Reimagined will see trails of large Globe sculptures in cities across the UK in August – October of 2022, created by artists to bring to life the reality and impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The trails will be the centre of a broader public engagement and education programme – with hundreds of schools, community groups, sporting and cultural institutions taking part across the country.

We are now looking for an exceptional person to join us as our Social Media & Marketing Coordinator to help us build our engagement online, connecting with a broad range of people and networks with powerful stories and groundbreaking art.

At this key moment for racial justice in our society and across the world, this is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in bringing people together to explore and process our shared history so we can create a future of empathy and grace, together.

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Operations, you will play a key role in sharing The World Reimagined story across our digital platforms.

The role will focus on these main responsibilities:

  • Execute and contribute to our social media and digital storytelling strategy;
  • Develop, create and curate compelling content,campaigns and engagement across our social media platforms for a variety of different objectives across our programmes – this includes
    • The creation of written, video and photo content.
    • Where relevant, attending relevant events to produce social media content.
    • Interacting with social media messages, enquiries and comments.
    • Reviewing analytics to ensure effectiveness or our engagement.
  • Write and design our regular newsletter to The World Reimagined family;
  • Support members of our programme teams with the creation of digital/communications collateral;
  • Creating and managing content for our website

We are looking for a person with two years’ experience of creating compelling and effective social media content and campaigns. They’ll be able to hit the ground running by matching their ability to create engaging content with the capacity to take in and process a lot of information quickly and thoughtfully.

The following will be assets for this role:

  • A keen interest and understanding of the history and themes to which The World Reimagined speaks;
  • The ability to work closely with a diverse range of people in a fast paced environment;
  • Outstanding persuasive communication skills, with the ability to share both organisational information and history in a compelling and accessible way;
  • Proficient knowledge and experience of Twitter; Instagram; Facebook; TikTok; LinkedIn and other social media platforms;
  • Content creation skills in Canva, Premiere Pro and similar platforms;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Strong project management and organisational skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail.

With a small core team and an ambitious agenda, we put a strong emphasis on team selection and values. We look for people who

  • Have a clear sense and understanding of their passion and purpose–and that these overlap with our mission and work;
  • Are curious about the world, how to find solutions, and – above all – people;
  • Have entrepreneurial, adaptable and focused mindsets to deliver on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
