The World Reimagined

The INSPIRE Toolkits

The World Reimagined’s purpose is to create a moment and platform that honours the countless people and organisations who do the work of making racial equality a reality.

Last year, we hosted the INSPIRE sessions, in which practitioners, experts and activists shared their expertise and know how with our community of activists. From those conversations, we’ve developed five toolkits that we hope you will find useful as a resource, catalyst for reflection and inspiration.

INSPIRE TOOLKIT: THE POWER OF CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT

Creative engagement makes a nurturing and inclusive environment, it allows people to feel safe whilst exploring societal issues, and having difficult conversations. Our community partners have shared with us their expert tools for creative engagement. These resources include methods of creating interaction, how to host shared-learning environments and methods for developing healthy working relationships in a team.

Creative engagement is supported by a host of peer-reviewed research, which evidences the psychological and physical benefits. It is said that 80% of people learn more effectively through creative engagement. By using our toolkit and reviewing our Inspire workshop, we want to share with people the power of creative engagement. If you find these resources useful, we’d love to hear from you and share your experience with our audiences.

INSPIRE TOOLKIT: RADICAL SELF-CARE

This Toolkit explores what radical self-care means and how we have to take care of ourselves first, before attempting to take care of others. Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, and much more.

INSPIRE TOOLKIT: DE-MYSTIFYING GRANT & BID WRITING

This toolkit looks at a report by social justice organisation Ten Years’ Time, found that despite Black, Asian other minority ethnic groups making up around 14% of the UK population, independent funders – such as trusts and foundations – still fail to give a fair share of grants to these groups.

Major funding leaders are working to take accountability for racial justice and dismantling oppressive systems that hold back minority communities.

INSPIRE TOOLKIT: BREAKTHROUGH CONVERSATIONS

As we reimagine the future, we need to be able to hold challenging conversations – and so this session and toolkit explores effective strategies and tools to support this. Understanding the importance of engaging with our shared history, we share how to foster inclusive spaces that promote open and honest dialogue. Our panel of experts, who have created such spaces within their communities, will guide us on how to approach these conversations

INSPIRE TOOLKIT: GROWING YOUR NETWORK & ENCOURAGING ALLYSHIP

This toolkit looks at a highly undervalued skill – how to intentionally expand your network. Networking is a skill we use throughout our lives, whether we recognise it or not. It is how we share ideas with peers at work, make recommendations to our friends and family, it’s mingling at social events, and, of course, when attending formal networking events. Allyship is an important extension and dimension of that if we are to grow our networks and community of support.
