The World Reimagined is publishing a book! Currently scheduled for late September, in time to share with you for Black History Month, we are bringing together some of the most exciting poets in the UK and beyond to bring to life the Journey of Discovery. Combining their poetry with visuals from our iconic Globe Sculptures, it will be a must-have anthology of reflection, challenge and inspiration.
And we want to feature your students in it! Alongside commissioned poets, we will feature two student-created poems per theme – chosen by our Jury from your submissions.
As well as being published in the book, the students’ and schools whose work has been selected will receive a copy of the anthology.
Who: All schools who participate in our Learning Programme can take part and submit the work of their students. Participation is free. Sign up to our Poetic Programme for free here.
Submission:
Each school can submit up to five poems – of up to 200 words.
All poems have to be in response to a specific theme.

Before you enter your schools’ submissions, please make sure you’ve read through and understand the below terms and conditions, as well as any additional guidelines listed on The World Reimagined website around how to apply. All UK schools and colleges who have signed up to The World Reimagined Learning Programme are eligible to submit the work of their students up to the age of 18, who are residents of the UK.
The competition will run from 24 May 2022 to 17.00 on 14 July 2022 inclusive (the “Closing Date”). All poetry entries must be submitted by the Closing Date. Entries submitted after the Closing Date will not be eligible for consideration.
The winners of the competition will be announced to the relevant schools/colleges by 16 August 2022.

Each school can enter up to five (5) poems for consideration. Poems must be submitted through The World Reimagined’s website at www.theworldreimagined.org/PoetryCompetition in MS word or PDF format only. Please note that competition entries cannot be returned.
Poems must respond to a specific theme of The Journey of Discovery – and you must name the theme for each entry upon submission.
Poems must be no longer than 200 words.
The schools/colleges must warrant that all entries are their students’ own, original work and it has not been published in print or online before the closing date of the competition. Poems can be individual or shared work. Schools must warrant that they have each author’s permission to submit the poem and that these terms and conditions have been brought to the attention of all entrants (and where relevant their parents/guardians, such consent form is available here: https://www.theworldreimagined.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Permission-Form.docx.pdf .
All poems must be mainly written in English. Phrases in other languages are acceptable, as long as the main body of the poem is in English.
Judges will select two poems per Journey of Discovery theme to be included in The World Reimagined poetry anthology (currently scheduled to be published in late September 2022). Additional poems may be selected to be featured in other promotional platforms. Due to these prizes, only written poems can be included in the poetry anthology. We accept videos of spoken word poems, and these may be exhibited on our digital platforms and other channels.
Feedback will not be given to individual entries or on the results of the competition – the judges’ decisions are final.
Each entry must identify the author(s). The copyright of each poem remains with the author(s). However, authors of all submitted poems, by entering the poetry competition, grant The World Reimagined, and any partners, where appropriate, the right to publish and/or broadcast their poem in perpetuity for marketing and other purposes.
By entering this Competition, the school/college is consenting to our use of the author’s entry both to publicise this competition and The World Reimagined. This means that we may use all names, images, descriptions, and other information, which the school/college has submitted on entry, in any media, without paying the school/college and without any time restriction.
Selected poems will be acknowledged by the first name of the author(s) and the name of their school.
All entrants must complete a permission form and additionally if you are submitting poems written by students that are aged 13 or younger, we need you to gain permission from their parents and guardians and share with us the completed permission forms. The World Reimagined does not accept responsibility for poetry entries that are lost or delayed as a result of network failure/technical malfunction, systems, servers, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales are to have exclusive jurisdiction to determine disputes or claims that arising out of or in connection with the competition.
By submitting an entry, the school/college confirms acceptance of these terms and conditions and further confirms that these terms and conditions have been made available to all entrants along with the permission form (linked above).
